Transcendent Bellydance is a wellness and fitness class open to people of all backgrounds who want to learn the beautiful art of middle eastern dance and benefit from the transformational power of the divine feminine expressed through movement. By exploring the body's articulation of the sensuous rhythms and melodies of middle eastern music, vital life-force can be awakened and accessed for healing and increased body awareness and confidence.
In this one hour class, participants will be given an introduction to bellydance technique, including controlled isolations and undulations of the upper and lower body, accents and vibrations of the hips, and basic traveling steps. Through a series of free-flowing and dynamic combinations, we'll work up a sweat and experience the uplifting, joyful energy of bellydance. With a mindful, meditative warm-up and cool-down focusing on calling in sacred intention, this class is designed to provide a welcoming space for everyone.
Please wear comfortable clothes you can move freely in and your bare feet. Optional: You can bring a scarf or sash to tie around your hips.
